I have worried about my weight for my entire life. Growing up, I was constantly called fat and was encouraged by my family to lose weight. As I got older, I tried different methods; from the fad diets to over exercising to diet pills. Once I got hooked on and ended up overdosing on diet pills, I knew I had a problem. I was then diagnosed with an eating disorder and forced to go to therapy and counseling sessions. I was at the point where I couldn’t get away with not eating so I decided to exercise. Well life happens and when I decided to go back to college, I quit working out and started partying. My partying years are all a blur. I was so messed up I had no idea what I was doing, but hey at least I was skinny and could eat whatever I wanted. Well, after countless trips to the hospital for drug related problems, I started attempting to get sober. When all you do is party, those are the people you become friends with. So my parents told me I need to find something where I can make new friends but also something to keep my stress level tolerable. I knew I liked to workout, so I asked my gym about different workout groups and thats how Crossfit came into the picture. Because I had done so many bad things to my body, I knew this would be a challenge, but I accepted it wholeheartedly. I’ve not only conquered way beyond what I thought my body was capable of physically, but I’ve become mentally stronger among a group of wonderful and inspiring people. My favorite thing about Crossfit is no matter what level you are at physically, everyone encourages everyone. They’ll always be someone who is better than you but they never act like that. Crossfit has changed my life for the better and I have been recovered from an eating disorder for about 2 years and clean from drugs 1 year. Crossfit will change your life!
